Homefields is a nonprofit organization with dual missions that benefit adults with IDD, Intellectual Development Disability, and other disabilities. We provide long-term homes and agricultural facilities for supported employment opportunities. We support the work of Goodwill, who operates our CSA program and offers supported employment opportunities to people with disabilities and other barriers to employment. We host two major fundraising events annually, both are in September. The annual Fall Golf tournament and Picnic in the Fields. We host an educational workshop series called "Talks in the Fields." This series is offered June - November on second Saturdays.

What is your primary product or service?
Land and building owner, providing two residential homes for adults with IDD and other disabilities. And, provides buildings, land and equipment for a vocational training. A Lancaster County provider operates Lancaster County's oldest CSA and Farmer Trainee program. From June through November the CSA, Community Supported Agriculture, program serves over 200 families through memberships. Excess organic vegetables, fruits and herbs are donated to local shelters and food banks. We host two major fundraising events annually, both are in September. Fall Golf Classic and Picnic in the Fields. Homefields sponsors an educational series of workshops called "Talks in the Field;" offerings are by donation and offered the second Saturday of the month June - November.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
This non profit organization was an outgrowth of concerns of parents and professionals that adults with IDD had (and still have) limited living and work options after age 21; when they age out of the system.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
We are provide unique opportunities for vocational training; the CSA is a farmer trainee program where adults with IDD, other disabilities and barriers to employment can learn work skills that can later translate into competitive employment in farming, landscaping and retailing.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
One location in Millersville encompasses 23 acres, and no plans to expand at this time.
